Francis "Alan" was best friend all through school to my brother, Doug Hartman. Alan died while on a mine sweep operation for which he volunteered. Alan was also a good friend to me and my other siblings. My brother Doug took his own life this year, but spoke often of Alan, and would have wanted to post this memorial.
