The photo and following article is taken from The Philadelphia Daily News, special supplement entitled 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' October 26, 1987. The special supplement was issued in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial.

The 20-year-old Marine lance corporal worked as an auto mechanic for several months after graduating from Germantown High School in 1964. He and longtime friend Alvin E. Jackson enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1965 and trained together at Parris Island, SC, and Camp Lejeune, NC, before being sent to Viet Nam in March 1966. Both were killed by shrapnel in separate battles near Da Nang. Baugh, a rifleman and ammunition carrier with Company C of the 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, died on July 23, 1966. Jackson died on November 19, 1966, while on patrol with Company I of the 3rd Battalion of the 9th Marines. Baugh was survived by his parents, a brother and three sisters.
