Gunny Bengen was my Platoon Commander in boot camp. I remember him well and was saddened to hear this news. Along with S/Sgt Mayfield and Sgt Sophocles we had a pretty good platoon. Gunny Bengen was a man's man and one heck of a Marine. Rest in peace, Gunny.
