A Note from The Virtual WallOn 22 Oct 1971 UH-1H tail number 66-16917 of the 116th Assault Helicopter Company was flying a resupply mission from Chu Lai. The weather was bad and the first attempt was aborted. The second effort fared no better; decreasing ceilings forced the pilot to proceed at low level through a valley. The aircraft entered clouds and impacted a hillside. One aircrewman and four passengers survived the crash, but four men did not:
