Well, pard, here I sit wondering what to say to you. Ya know I still ain't bought that Harley like we were gonna buy and be just like "Easy Rider" across this great country we live in. Oh buddy, I sure miss what could have been. We were brothers in arms in the bush but closer than that closer than brothers could ever be. The loss and heart-felt sorrow will never subside as long as there is a breath in this body. See ya one of these days, pardner.

From his Platoon Leader,
Jack (Tex) Reed

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Landing Zone NANCY, located a few kilometers from Quang Tri City, was built by the 1st Cavalry Division around the beginning of 1968 as part of the US build-up of forces in Quang Tri Province. By mid-August 1968 LZ NANCY was home to artillery and engineer units as well as infantrymen.

On the night of 16 August LZ NANCY was attacked by NVA forces which penetrated the perimeter. While the NVA/VC withdrew before dawn, the bloody fight resulted in at least 20 "killed in action" among the LZ's defenders. They were
