A Note from The Virtual Wall

C Battery, 5/22nd Artillery, was at LZ Sandy about 15 kilometers north of Phan Thiet on 17 Dec 1969. Three men were killed when the breech block of their 175mm gun blew while firing a mission:
  • SP4 Juan Carrillo, Laredo, TX;
  • SP4 John J. Gallagher, Philadelphia, PA; and
  • PFC Richard E. Westfall, Polson, MT,
