Known to his family and friends as "Buddy", he lived at 54-15 38th Avenue in Woodside, N.Y. Buddy attended Immaculate Conception Parochial School and Bryant H.S. in Astoria, New York. He was a valuable member of the Bryant Owls, an outstanding varsity baseball team coached by Mr. Vinnie Starace. He also played youth basketball and football with the Long Island Rovers.

Before enlisting in the Marines, Buddy worked for the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. He planned to become a policeman on leaving the Marines.

Buddy was killed in action by an enemy mortar attack while serving in the Fourth Marine Division in Quang Tri, Vietnam. At the time of his untimely death on May 8, 1967, Buddy was only 20 years old. He was scheduled to return home in August. In addition to his mother, Buddy was survived by his brother William of Hauppauge, L.I., and a grandmother, Mrs. Julia Walsh of Astoria.
