You guys had a lot of friends. I was 11 when you died. I was walking home to Barteau Avenue from Little League on Corey, thinking about you when it really hit me and I was tremendously saddened. From that point, it was marked in my mind because it was my first encounter with death in this life. Of all people, it had to be you!! You see, of all of the friends, to me, you were the NICEST; my favorite! - To this day - I still remember, think of and miss you.

A Note from The Virtual WallSP4 Dugan was assigned to A Battery, 2/32 Arty, but there is information which indicates he may have been assigned to an Artillery Forward Observer team with A Company, 1st Bn, 28th Infantry. The Virtual Wall cannot determine the date or circumstances of his injuries. If he was with A/1/28, he may have been wounded in an engagment on 12 Sep 1968 when Alpha 1/28 lost 12 men. However, a remembrance on another site, placed by a friend who wasn't there, says that he "had been in Vietnam for about 6 months when his truck hit a landmine. He was evacuated to Japan where he died suddenly as a result of his wounds." Kevin Dugan is buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram, Long Island, with his parents. |
