I remember Dick as a cadet in Army ROTC at Marquette University
and I truly miss him.

Dick Fox died next to me in February 1968 in Viet Nam.
We were platoon leaders together in the 101st Airborne Division
and were each other's best friend in Viet Nam.

The only picture of my time in Viet Nam that I display is of
Dick and me posing for a photo probably not long before Dick was
killed. I remember Dick as a great guy who had the same distaste
for death and war that I did.

I hope Dick's parents and family have found peace
from that long ago tragedy and are comforted that he
did not die alone. I was there.

My thoughts in Memorium,
Mark Solit

I first met Dick in summer 1967 at Fort Benning. He was easy to like. His Ranger buddy Bill Wilkinson and I were later in the 197th Inf Bde at Benning, and we occasionally visited Dick's parents Herbert and Martha Fox and sister Mary Ann in Atlanta. Soon enough, we were two of the three 2LTs to serve as Dick's pallbearers. Sadly, I've long forgotten the name of the third officer, a college classmate of Dick's, but two months after I got to Vietnam in June 1968, I saw his name in the KIA list in Army Times.

Dick Fox was an only son and a great loss.
