FROM YOUR BUDDIES IN BOOT CAMP, PLATOON 3009.
From a Boot Camp buddy, |
Michael was my neighbor and my friend. I remember playing basketball late into the evening on many summer nights. His sacrifice to his nation is still felt by all that knew him. I was 14 when he passed and I still think of him often.
From a friend, |
I think of Mike often. Every time I pass the memorial at Peterson Park in Mattoon. I dated Mike's brother, Rick, and I talked with Mike just a few days before he left for Nam. He told me that he wouldn't be back. I told him not to think that way, but he knew. He was there just 10 days when he died for our country. Rest in peace, Mike. I'll see you again, up yonder.
