A Note from The Virtual Wall The Squadron Chronology for Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 363 reports that at 0210 02 Sep 1967 a UH-34D (BuNo 148056) was involved in a midair collision with a UH-1E (BuNo 152426) from VMO-2. The UH-34D went in, while the UH-1E was able to recover safely. The four-man crew of the UH-34D died in the crash: 1st Lt William H. Elmore, Jr, pilot Capt Johnnie Linton Garner, copilot Cpl Clarence M. Gunther, Jr, crew chief LCpl William James McGee IV, gunner
