Sgt Frankie Gonzales was my brother-in-law. He married my sister a short time before he was drafted. They had a daughter, Marie, whom he got to see on R&R in Hawaii in Sept 68. He was listed MIA 3 weeks after returning back to his unit and confirmed KIA a short while after that. While in Hawaii he and my sister, Linda, conceived another child, a daughter JoAnn whom he never got to see. Both girls have grown up to be mothers themselves and have introduced their children to the grandfather they never knew and are proud of his accomplishments. I too served in Vietnam with the 2nd Bn, 16th Inf Rgt, 1st ID. Frankie, rest in peace, my friend, your girls turned out to be just as you would have wanted them to.
Luv you, Bro,
