06 June 2003 When Ronnie went to Vietnam, no one ever thought he wouldn't come home. He was an exceptional athlete; quick, strong, fast and yet graceful! To my brother Steve and I, he was invincible. We were very young when he was killed, yet he still had an amazing, positive impact on our lives. He was assigned to SOA (CCC), 5TH SFG, SPECIAL FORCES and made the ultimate sacrifice while leading a Hatchet Force mission into Cambodia. Through my Father, one of Ronnie's closest friends in high school, I learned about discipline and how to be a leader. I'm proud of what Ronnie stood for and ultimately died for ... I'm currently an Active Duty Commander in the US Coast Guard and just returned from a deployment in support of Operation Liberty Shield. I hope Ronnie can see what I'm doing and I want him to know that part of him is still alive... God Bless you Uncle Ronnie... We miss you. 04 Mar 2007 Ron was a roommate of mine at Infantry OCS at Fort Benning, in 1966. As I recall, his parents couldn't come down for the graduation-commissioning ceremony on December 5th. Ron asked my mother and sister to pin on his second lieutenant gold bars, which they were honored to do. Ron went to jump school the next day. He had priority to go since he was scheduled to go to the SF Officer's course in January of 1967 and then on to Spanish language school ... I think at Monterrey. I ran into Ron at Fort Bragg in late January after completing jump school and being assigned to the 7th SF. We met for a few beers while we were stationed at Bragg. When he completed the SF Officer's course, I lost touch with him. The next I heard about Ron was when I sadly read about his death on the Army Times casualty list.
