I never knew my uncle John. He died 13 years before I was born. But, he has touched my life despite. All I know about John is what my father and aunts have shared with me. John's death in Vietnam ripped through the hearts of those who knew him. John was a son, a brother, an uncle, a nephew, a best friend and a comrade. He died, like so many other brave men and women, for our country - for our freedom and the freedom of others. He was a hero. His legacy lives on in those who knew and remember. John died 34 years ago today. This is my way of remembering him. Uncle John, though I never got the chance to meet you, I feel you are here watching over us. We all love and miss you. Your memory will never be extinguished from our hearts. ~Amanda Hickey-Voigt
