Rick and I spent many hours talking during our tour. He was my radio operator, friend and compatriot.

Rick,

I still wonder after all these years about all the great things you could have accomplished if it were not for the war. I miss you dearly and will always have to live with never knowing the truth about what really happened to you. I was young and at the time who really wanted to talk about it with a 13 year old who was mad at the world? Just as it is now, the world was a terrible place to grow up in living on the edge of catastophe. It all seems the same to me, only now it lacks the passionate people who would stand up for what is right. How we've changed as a nation and yet in some ways we haven't.

You will always be with me in my heart ... and you will always be my hero.

Your Brother,
Mark

Uncle Ricky,

It is hard for me to write about things I can't understand and can't explain. I can't understand why good souls are taken away by such senseless acts. We were fighting a war then and we are fighting a war now. I can't understand why I never got to know you, but I can explain why I am so proud. Not knowing you has been hard, especially when I hear amazing things about you. You will forever be cherished by me and all that love you and miss you. We will meet someday and I will be truly honored.

Thank you, Uncle Ricky...
Love, Sara
