Allan was my one of my best friends growing up in Minot. We used to do a lot of things together, which included wearing Scandinavian sweaters alike, and our Mothers couldn't tell us apart. I really miss him. He always wanted to be a Marine, and I think he prepared himself since the 7th grade, when he was getting over scarlet fever and preparing to get his strength back. He got his strength back and I feel that he was a very good Marine. I mailed him 45 rpm records as his outfit had a record player, and my Father owned a company that specialized in juke boxes, pinball machines and other items, and I would take the latest records and mail them to him. I would then read the letters he wrote home to his parents and find out how much he enjoyed the records. I had just graduated from USAF boot camp and was on my last few days at home when I found out that we had lost him. Unfortunately, I was unable to be there for his funeral, but I was an honorary pallbearer, which meant a lot to me and still does.
