VA-35, CVW-9, USS ENTERPRISE
From Union City, Tennessee
24 January 1941 - 03 October 1973
Tito, as he was called, was from the same town as my brothers and parents. For a while we attended UTM at the same time. I was finishing my training in Pensacola when he was starting his. I remember a detailed conversation with Tito at a Christmas party while I was visiting my parents in Union City. I had just returned from a WestPac cruise as a F4 RIO, he was getting ready to go. We talked about the excitement of combat and duty. To this day I can recall our words and conclusions. He never returned from his first cruise as an A-6 BN. He was a sterling example of West Tennessee's values and honor.
