I was on Fire Support Base Maureen that night and in the foxhole with him. There are days I wished I would have stayed with you in that foxhole. I am sorry - I needed to leave our position to close up the perimeter. I often think of what would have happened if I had stayed with you - would you be alive? Would I have died? It hurts me to think of that. There are very few days I don't think of you. Accept my apology please.
