13 Sep 2007 Rick was a good guy. He was what you expect a Marine to look like. He got along well with everyone, he didn't give out any crap and he didn't take any. He had a lazy, infectious smile that always made you wonder what he had been up to. He was proud to be a Marine and was ready when his country called upon him to serve in Vietnam. Rick came home to his loved ones after only 4 months. Integrity, honor, and duty was his calling. Rickie - once a Marine, always a Marine. Rest in peace, my brother. A Note from The Virtual Wall A contact report timed at 0830 06 July 1969 says that a patrol from the 2nd Plt, Fox 2/4, was ambushed as it moved toward its own daylight position. The NVA ambush, which was initiated with Claymore mines killing two members of the platoon outright, occurred about 16 kilometers north-northwest of the Ca Lu airfield. The two Marines killed were Pfc Rodney J. Delisle of Waterville, Maine, and Pfc Rickie A. Loomis.
