A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 19 March 1967, the first day of Operation PRAIRIE III, the 1st Bn, 9th Marines' position about 9 kilometers west-northwest of Cam Lo was hit with a heavy 82mm mortar barrage. Six Marines were killed by the enemy fire:
  • C Company:
    • Sgt Winston G. Hollenshead, Haynesville, LA
    • LCpl Frank Tunstill, Los Angeles, CA

  • D Company:
