A Note from The Virtual Wall

Captain Minutoli was the Signals Officer for Detachment C-1 in Quang Nam Province.

O-1 Bird Dog

On 06 April 1967, Captain William G. Sipos of the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron and Captain Minutoli were airborne in an O-1E (tail number 51-5074) about 15 miles west of Danang, flying cover for a Special Forces operation. Both men died when the Bird Dog was brought down by enemy fire.

John R. Minutoli
was buried on 19 April 1967 in Plot W-193,
National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific,
Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii,
among other men of courage and integrity.
