Dennis was my boyhood friend. We grew up together in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, doing all those things that kids did in the late 1950's and early 60's. Our most fun was Little League and playing pickup baseball games. Dennis graduated from Liberty High School in 1966, one year ahead of me but joined the service after I did. He joined the US Marine Corps and I joined the Army. We both ended up in I Corps (Quang Tri Province) at the same time. I was flying helicopters with the 101st Airborne Division and he was serving with the 9th Marines, 3rd Division. We corresponded while in-country and had planned a great reunion at Vandrgrift. I was flying for the 3rd Recon Battalion under Marine Operational Control in March 1969 when I learned he had died of shaprnel wounds on March 11 during Operation Dewey Canyon. Dennis was deeply religious, loved his family, and was a caring friend. Dennis, I miss you buddy and will never forget you. May you rest in peace.
