A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 30 Sep 1968 the 11th Infantry Brigade lost two men: SSG Bobby J. Brown of Bessemer, Alabama, assigned to A Co, 3rd Bn, 1st Infantry, and CPL Larry G. Newberry of Kokomo, Indiana, a medic assigned to C Co, 6th Support Bn. Both were killed by an "explosive device".

The Virtual Wall has no evidence that Corporal Newberry was in the field with Alpha 3/1, and it is just as likely the two men were killed in separate incidents. Never the less, they are the only US soldiers who died in Quang Ngai Province on that date.

Visit John Dennison's
Medics on the Wall
memorial which honors the
Army Medics and Navy Corpsmen who died in Vietnam.
