I knew Tommy when I was a young teenager in New York. My stepfather introduced us. Tommy was in school and working in a hospital (I believe St. Mary's in Jamaica New York) at the time that he enlisted. The war was such a hot and sensitive topic then. I asked my stepfather (a veteran of WWII) why Tommy enlisted. He told me that Tommy's father was really sick and that this was a better way to help. He gave up his school and future career and eventually his life for the love of family.

I have some letters from him that I saved, and I have a couple of pictures but mostly I have a real clear memory of Tommy showing up at my 13th birthday dinner party at Mr. Jim's restaurant in Jamaica, resplendent in his uniform. He was so proud. So was I. I still am.

Tommy is my brother, a faithful friend. The memories of our childhood are warm, loving. Although he has nieces, nephews he'll never know, they know of him.

We will always keep his memory alive. He will always be in my prayers.

If any of you have memories or pictures of him you would like to share, I would be forever indebted to you.

From his sister,
