A Note from The Virtual Wall

The 15 July 1967 rocket attack on the Danang Air Base was the single worst attack on any US air base during the war. In addition to the 10 aircraft destroyed and dozens more damaged, the ammunition dump on the Marine side was hit and went up in a series of massive explosions. Of the 160+ casualties, the nine US dead all were Air Force personnel, eight of them from the 366th Combat Support Group:
  • 366th Combat Support Group, 366th TFW
    • A2C James H. Price, Winchester, IL
    • A2C Jerald K. Sumida, Kahului, HI

  • 366th CE Sqdn, 366th Combat Support Group, 366th TFW
    • A1C Ronald F. Poole, San Antonio, TX
    • A1C John S. Berg, Trenton, NJ
    • A1C James F. Brooks, Kellyton, AL (Died of wounds on 08/15/1967)
    • A2C Charles R. Humble, Devalls Bluff, AR
    • A2C Charles F. Boss, Ann Arbor, MI
    • A2C Charles D. Ward, Portland, TX

  • 1st Mobile Comm Group
    • SSgt David A. Fasnacht, Janesville, MN
