A Note from The Virtual Wall

In late July 1969 the 2/1 Marines were conducting a search-and destroy mission around Hill 845 (Nui Mat Rang). The 2/1 Command Chronology records that the 3rd Platoon, Hotel 2/1 lost 7 men on 26 July - one at 0950, and 6 in an ambush at 1430. The seven men were

  • Cpl George H. Clifford, Grand Rapids, MI;
  • Cpl Fred J. McClain, Jacksonville, FL;
