First Sergeant Rounseville led us into combat for the first time. He saved my life three times just by doing his job. I didn't know him as a friend, only as a leader. I never got to thank him for helping me come home.

If there is anyone alive who loved him, I hope they will remember that he died taking care of his men. He did not die for nothing.

I did not know him, only of him.
But I hope that I serve as half the soldier he was.
