Within the Battalion there was a small group of men called "Doc".

Trained at first by the Navy, then retrained by the Corps
to travel, fight, and care for 1st Recon Marines in need.

In-country the green uniforms all became one, and we
considered our Corpsmen as fellow Marines held with
great respect by all.

Listed here we find another of our unit.
Time passes but the memories remain strong.
So many owe their lives to our Corpsmen.
Our thoughts are with you, "Doc".

Thank you - We of 1st Recon Bn hold the list.

The photo at the top of this page has been submitted by his neighbors and friends who meet in the Calumet City/Lansing IL Community Forum on the internet. Richard graduated from Thornton Fractional South High School in 1960 and was very well liked by his classmates. May we always honor his memory and may he rest in peace.
