The database page for John Wayne Stilley
On John's first mission in Vietnam, he stepped on a land mine. He had just jumped from a Huey with his company when it happened.
John was missed by all his friends and family in Houston, Texas. John graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, Texas. His picture in the year book of 1961 was inscribed that he was CSU 1960. I think he also was in the high school ROTC, an avid officer and respected by all. He never had a temper and got along with everyone. He was married in Houston, and left a wife and daughter there. I did not find his name anywhere in the men who died from Houston in the Vietnam war. The other day the Moving Wall was on the University of Houston's campus. It was just a stone's throw from our High School were John graduated in 1961. I put his year book picture and year book description in a frame and placed it on one of the tables at the Wall. Thank you for helping this Texan to be remembered with his friends in Nam.
