From an old friend who will never forget. John was killed early in the morning of 15 September 1968. He was on a night ambush that went bad for him. He was one of the nicest guys I knew. He was also very cool under fire. He never got excited or showed fear which had a calming effect on the rest of us who served with him. Rest in peace, dear friend. This country owes you a lot for your sacrifice.
