Garry, you left a large void in our hearts, one that never could be filled. Not a day goes by that you are not missed. Occasionally I bring out your letters and pictures and always marvel at your helmet with your daughter Kim's name emblazened on it. You were so proud of her. She is grown now and has her own little girl, Christina. Mom is gone but you probably know that. Take care of her always as she took care of us in life. After you left she never allowed anyone to forget the hero you truly are.
Your brother, Coye |
To a man who will never be forgotten ... my brother Carl Robert Miller was killed the day before you and somehow I get some comfort knowing you were there to help comfort my brother in his last hours and I know he was there in spirit to guide you home ... God bless you and your loving family as we note another year without you and Carl in our lives.

A Note from The Virtual WallIn the early afternoon of 29 July 1968 a squad patrol from 1st Platoon, Echo 2/27, engaged what appeared to be a platoon-sized enemy force. The remainder of the platoon and an ARVN unit responded to the squad's request for assistance. One Marine - LCpl Baker - and an ARVN soldier were killed in the engagement, while two Marines and three ARVN troops were wounded. |
