A Note from The Virtual Wall

A UH-1B HUEY (tail number 62-02030) of the C Btry (ARA), 2/20th Artilley was shot down while conducting convoy cover along Route 14 about 25 miles south of Pleiku. All four men aboard died in the crash:
  • WO David E. Peters, aircraft commander, Milwaukee, WI
  • 1LT Colin Keith Nichols, copilot, Spartansburg, PA
  • PFC Clifford Lee Carpenter, crew chief, Akron, OH
  • PFC Charles Wendle Smith, gunner, Tabor, IA
