One of my best friends in high school was Carlyle's neighbor in the small farming community of Garfield, Mn. I only exchanged words with him maybe once or twice, but saw him often in the halls of Jefferson High School in Alexandria. He always acknowledged me with a warm, friendly smile. I personally knew no soldier that perished in that far away place other than Carlyle. I have since come to know many that served in Nam and returned home. He is not forgotten. We will remember the thousands that died serving their country and the thousands that returned home physically and emotionally wounded. To all our military personnel then and now ... I remember, I will always remember and I will always be grateful for you. If anyone can add to this memorial I would appreciate it. |
