I didn't know William, but he was from my home town. He was six months older than me. His name is on our Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial. In order to never forget your sacrifice, I submit this memorial.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Shortly after take-off a UH-1H (tail number 66-16330) went into a left descending turn, crashed, and burned. Four men died in the incident:
  • WO1 Stanley Bruce Smith, pilot
  • WO1 William Warren Wieburg, copilot
  • SP4 Michael Frank Green, gunner
  • SP4 Dan Leon Herdebu, crew chief
